Icarus and his father where held captive by a king--in a high tower--on account of the fact that his father was a brill ant inventor. The king used many excuses for not letting them go and so the Father invented wings for the two of them to escape with;however, since they where held together with wax they could not be brought to near the disk of Apollo else they would melt. Well the time came and the Father and Son--Icarus--made good in there escape, but in his heady euphoria at being able to be as an eagle Icarus forgot his fathers wise admonition; flew too close to the intense rays of the Sun. And the wax melted causing him to plummet to his death.
Wow, I have not thought about this for about 20 years.

That would be Icarus. His father Daedalus warned him not to fly too close but he didn't listen. They were trying to escape from imprisonment under King Minos, and made wings of feathers and wax. Icarus flew too close and the wax melted.

"Son of the inventor and architect Daedalus, who was locked into the labyrinth of Knossos after his father had helped Theseus defeat the Minotaur.
Daedalus then made two pairs of wings for himself and his son, made of feathers and wax. So, they flew away from their prison.
Despite his fathers warnings, Icarus flew too near the sun. The wax then melted and the young man fell into the sea and drowned. Since then, the sea was called the Icarian sea, and an island nearby called Icaria."

long story short a father and son were captured so they needed a way out so the father made wings out of wax and feathers and they escaped but the son didnt listed and he went to close to the sun and the wax melted and he fell and drounded in the ocean cuz he didnt no how to swim
