Although his name is spelt Menzies it is pronounced Mingis. This is because the name Menzies originates from Scots Gaelic where letters are pronounced differently from English. In Scots gaelic, the letter 'Z' doesn't exist and is pronounced 'G'. Hope this helps.

The Scottish name, written Menzies, is pronounced Ming-iss. I don't know why, but that's just how it is, presumably from Gaelic pronunciation.

The pronunciation is a Scottish thing, however Ming is the shortened form as the full is Mingus.
