I love baseball its the only sport I will watch all the way through. Except for an occasional fight (so rare I have only seen one live) they don't beat each other up like hockey, basketball and football.
Hit the ball so that nobody catches it or pitch the ball so nobody can hit is the basic the game plan.. but of course they do catch it and they do it hit the ball.. that is the fun. Plus you can be a regular guy and play the game! not extra tall or extra mean or extra huge!

The pitcher throws a ball at the batting box.
The batter stand over the box to attempt to hit the ball.
If the ball is hit and it stays in play (in the playing field) the batter becomes a runner.
The runner tries to get to each base and then home base before the ball reaches a member of the opposing team.
The members of the opposing team will try to get the runner out by tossing the ball to the base the runner is heading to or simply touching them with their baseball mit when they have the ball.
I could try and explain more minor nuances of the game, but that is basically it.

Like many things in life, understanding baseball comes only after observing it and researching the rules (either by reading or asking the person you're sitting with why something just happened). Read the website below for insight to the game.

baseball is a game of overcoming failure. you could have 3 hits in 10 atbats and unlike other sports 3 out of 10 is great. its a sport that involves a lot of patiences and knowledge. the patiences is the part people dont like baseball because they think its boring but really there is so much going on compared to other sports.

It's easy if you have played the game. Not only are the rules simple, but when you hit one on the sweet spot or make a great throw or slide into base safely, or any of a dozen of other things, you grow to appreciate it. It's simple, elegant, and beautiful. To me, it's always been more of a game than a sport. It is the one sport in which the geeky kids did okay, too.

Sounds like me with football... I just don't get it.
But Baseball, to me, is easy to understand.... Hit the ball as far as ya can, and while it's out there, see how close you can get back to home without getting tagged by the ball. I love it!

It takes years and years of watching, reading, and playing the game to understand it. I still learn new things every day of the season.

you watch the batter when he hits the ball they run. if the out feilders catch it and through it to the base be for he gets to it he is out. they have three strikes till he's out( three times to hit the ball).if they make it around the base they get a point or they could score a home run(were you make it around the bases with out stoping)
