From the article that Bruce J provided it sounds like the man is angry at the church........ not necessarily God. And he's suing God because a judge did something he disapproved of or disagreed with. Obvious evidence leads towards the correct assumption that the man is an athiest. Apparently.

But if this isn't the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard of.... I'm surprised he hasn't been laughed out of the courtroom already.... even by atheistic judges. You've got to be kidding me with this.

exerpt: "Chambers says in his lawsuit that God has made terroristic threats against the senator and his constituents, inspired fear and caused "widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants." The Omaha senator, who skips morning prayers during the legislative session and often criticizes Christians, also says God has caused "fearsome floods ... horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes."

First off.... Since God is invisible, doesn't that make him a flight risk? lol
Secondly, if God does get 'convicted' .... erm, how is the Judge supposed to apply the sentence? How are you going to restrain the Most High?

Also, Since God WILL NOT call his power into account as he is omnipotent, and will not respond tangibly and physically by showing up in court (in general!!! LOL) nor will he respond in any other spiritual manifestation to appease the obviously psychological delusions, that are the presumtious and brazenly audacious demands and rants of a bitter old man.... erm..... how are they going to cross-examine him?

And ROFL.... who are they going to call as witnesses?
Um.... does God need a defense lawyer? OR um.... are they just going to sue him without anyone ever to defend him? (not that God needs to defend himself, after all, erm.... he's God.)

And as to his charges? Are you kidding me? He's basically suing the Almighty for disorderly conduct, risking and causing catastrophe and...... wtf... terroristic threats? Are you kidding me?
(terroristic threats are usually an m1 depending on circumstance and erm.... can be anything from calling someone a name to cursing at someone in a fight, (like if someone says to you "EFF you i'm gonna beat your face in" and you respond by saying, "EFF you go ahead and try it" that counts as a terroristic threat. it doesnt necessarily mean that someone verbally or physically threatened anyone else... that's all that means. )

But..... He's suing God for such lame charges? And he's also basically suing the Almighty for being Almighty> If this man denies he believes God exists..... then he hasn't a right to sue him, as you cannot sue someone or something that isn't real/
If he believes God exists, and is suing Him for being Almighty and creating such things as hurricanes and tornados and stuff.... erm, .... what does he expect the outcome to be? How is a mortal man going to rebuke the Amighty and force him to submit to the desires of a created being, and un-create natural disasters that are just scientifically a part of the world we live in? What's next? Is he going to sue God because the earth rotates and causes techtonic plates to shift which eventually leads to earthquakes? This is bulljive! It's insanity!

And Does he honestly expect God to listen to him? I'm sure God's up in heaven right now laughing his holy behind off! "Oh okay Senator..... becasue YOU are suing me, I'll stop being Almighty!" whatev...........
this man obviously has emotional problems and probably should no longer be in the job field that he's in. And what did he do? Watch the Christian film series, "Revelation" with Gary Busey and get the idea to sue God for "crimes against humanity" from that movie? I swear this man needs counselling. This is the most obnoxious thing... and i don't expect any judge in his right mind to hear the case. I also expect God to be God and sovereign, in control of everything as he always is as God... and for this man to be dead within a year (if not sooner), because God struck him down. How utterly blashphemous, to rage such profane things in accusation of a holy God. And he's just doing it because some judge made him mad. WHAT A LOSER.

Erm... i'm no lawyer but.......Please.....Please.... please....
i beg you..... let me have a shot at him? In the courtroom. Oh please can i? Oh please, could you? It would make my day!
I'll defend God if noone else will, point by point, law by law... and i won't even use the bible. Just straight legal arguments based on this man's stupidity......... not that God really needs anybody to defend him! And not that this case will ever even make it to a courtroom. ROFL.

*sighs* what an idiot and a fool this man is. He ought to be committed to an institution.

*sorry.... maybe i'm a hostile witness ROFL or just biased in general...... i happen to be a big fan of Gods.......

This stuff happens all the time. I've seen suits against God, Satan, ghosts, and even one where a widow tried to divorce her dead husband.

It is a publicity stunt by the state congressman. He filed suit to get himself in the paper. I'm willing to bet he will never try to get God served with the papers, however. He has to pay additional fees for that, and it is an impossible task - he has to list God's physical address in the county in which suit was filed. He could list a church, but that will just anger the parishoners of that church, and many parishioners of other churches, because the congressman dragged them into his publicity stunt. That will cost him votes.

This guy in Nebraska, a politician no less, is trying to prove that anyone can sue someone for anything. So he is wasting a lot of time and money in the court system by suing GOD. Instead, I think he is proving how ridiculous he really is. I think too that God might strike him dead for his blasphemous behavior.

If you read the article you will see that the Lawyer taking this thing through the court is trying to show the American people that some legal cases are just plain silly. that of course goes in the UK too.

Got to be a publicity stunt for some purpose.

As a purely legal matter, I'd like to see a court acknowledge that God was given proper service of process, which is a paperwork requirement -- but lawyers can get creative.

EDIT: Thanks BruceJ for the link. Yep, a stunt -- to prove a point.

Hi,
This is Tim from England.
There's no god over here - so i guess there's no god over there, but i suppose Nabraska taking god (purposely lower case) highlights the stupidity of blind belief.

Chambers said the lawsuit was triggered by a federal suit filed against a judge who recently barred words such as "rape" and "victim" from a sexual assault trial.
So it was to show that if the judge could be ridiculous, he could have a really ridiculous lawsuit to grapple with.
