Josef Stalin was 10xs worse than Adolf Hitler.
Stalin was responsible for 25 million deaths before WWII while Hitler was an unknown sitting in prison.
After WWII and Hitler's death, Stalin continued to spread cancerous communism throughout the world with a concurrent increase in wars and deaths.

Most people now consider Stalin to be worse, comparing Stalin's estimated death toll of 20 million to the 6 million Jews killed in the Holocaust. I think this argument is pretty flawed on a few counts:
Hitler killed a lot more than the 6 million Jews, for one thing. Over 11 million Soviet civilians were murdured by the Nazi's in just under 3 years, as well as over 3 million Soviet POW's. So take the 6 million, add the 11 million, and the 3 million, and it's now a tie in terms of who killed the most, and there is still more to add to Hitlers total.
More importantly, Hitler was stopped, Stalin wasn't. Hitler would easily have killed over 100 million people if he could have.
And finally, while I would never argue that Stalin's ends justified his means, in terms of looking at how evil he was in comparison to Hitler, it matters. Stalin killed 20 million people in an attempt to bring a country just leaving the middle ages into the industial age. Hitler killed 20+ million in an attempt to kill over 100 million people and wipe entire races and cultures off the planet.
Stalin was horrible, but Hitler was in a class all to himself when it comes to evil.

They were both monsters. I think it's ridiculous to say one was worse than the other just by comparing the number of people they killed. If there positions had been reversed (HItler leading Russia, Stalin leading Germany), the numbers would proably be the other way around with Hitler killing more than Stalin. They were both monsters. That's enough.

Well good question. They were both cruel leaders. Although Hitler was good to his own people that followed the Nazi regime. Stalin treated his own people horribly. Although Hitler tried attempting genocide on a certain race. Id have to go with Hitler on that one. But indeed Stalin was a evil man, which in my eyes we should of taking him out of power once WWII ended. So we could of avoided the cold war.

Neither one was any good, but Hitler had more influence over a larger number of people than Stalin. Russia had lots of land in their borders but much of it was useless so the number of people there was probably smaller. I would think that Hitler did more damage than Stalin. Hitler was more aggressive and Stalin was more of a blowhard.

that's the form of subject that would make a large paper for a history type. in terms of atrocities committed, they're the two vile. Hitler's are greater broadly customary, so in one experience, you could say Hitler is the worst. in spite of everything, the 'worst' is a judgement call, and if maximum folk might say he's the worst, then he's. besides the undeniable fact that, in the journey that your difficulty-free question is, "Is Stalin responsible for greater deaths than Hitler?", i think the respond is rather sure.

I agree with you. Stalin was worse. I remember my Latvian grandfather telling me stories about how his Latvian town retreated INTO Nazi Germany, to escape the marauding Red Army. They feared the Russians more than the Nazis.
