I have 4 children. The first 2 were conceived while I was on the pill. Then I tried the shot, I only made it for the first one, but then we did use the pull out method, and timing with my cycle. Then I had my 3rd child after which I started the shot again. I was on it for a year then stopped, then awhile later I had #4.
My children are 15, 10, 8 and 3. I really liked the shot. Once about every 3 months I went to the Dr. to get it, my periods were nonexistent (biggest plus for me). Remembering to take a pill everyday with life and children is hard, keeping track of your cycle is a little easier, honestly I did not care for the pull out method, for me the shot was the best way to go.
A quick appointment once every 3 months, no periods, easy choice. (the shot does have different effects for different people)

It really depends on you and your husband and what you both want. I didn't get on birthcontrol right away (had never been on it, as i was a virgin) and we had a got pregnant within the first 2 months. After my first daughter, I went on the pill. Went off the pill about a year later, got pregnant with second daughter. Now I get the shot, it lasts for 3 months, so i don't have to remember to take the pill every day. After our next baby, in a year or two, I'll get an IUD. We don't want to do anything permanent just in case, but the IUD is a fairly effective long term (5 yrs) option.

I'd sit with your Ob/Gyn and see what your options are based on your health, insurance and availability. Then i'd take those options to your husband to discuss.

Good luck.

Well it really depends you should probably speak with your husband first. If you decide right now is not the right time to have kids then you should make and appt with your gynecologist (if you dont have one get one lol) and they can discuss the different options with you. If you dont want to take prescription birth control simply use condoms but if you are comfortable with using a prescription your doctor will be able to tell you what best based on age, medical history, etc. I suggest the NuvaRing I have been on it for a year now Im still using it and over the pill, patch, and oral contraceptives I like it best. I have heard terible things about the depo shot though! but like I said your doctor will be able to help you with that better than anyone here becau they can look at your medical history etc. GOOD LUCK!

Since when does pulling out prevent pregnancy? Since you can't take the pill or shot use a condom but be advised that nothing is 100%

girl if you don't want kids right now than stop using the pull out method everyone of my friends got pregnant like that. they do have the nuva ring also which is really good but i erge you not to do the shots if you ever want to have kids in the future. and then again there is also the good ole condom although it is hard going back to them once you stop using them. ow and they also have spermicides that you can buy at wal'mart go look at them and see what you think.

With ex IUD (couldn't use it with hubby because he was too long and the string rubbed him) and now I use the shot.
I had a LOT of side effects at first (bleed for two months, lost a lot of hair, etc.) but I just got the second shot and all the side effects are gone...

Pull out is not effective. Been there, done that and out pops a bouncing baby boy. Condoms or even the sponge might do better for you.

I used the pull out method for 2 years, but 2 months ago my husband did it a little late and I got pregnant, I miscarried and I was glad. If your husband can control himself, it does work. We were having sex like everyday at least 2X, so if you have it that much definitely get some bc. I like ortho tri cycln, if you havent tried that one than i would suggest it. You have shorter periods, it helps clear your skin and enhances boobs.
