Let it slide. Who cares what people think.

I would pass them and make a snide comment regarding what they said - so they know you heard them - its the most embarrasing thing be overheard by the person you are talking about. But then ask yourself this, would they have done it on purpose? If so then i would not rise to the bait.
Sometimes it is better to pull them aside when they are alone and ask them what their problem is with you as you overheard them bitching........ and at the end say well in future if you hav a gripe i would prefer you did it as an adult and said to my face!!!!!

I would march over and interrupt their conversation. I don't care what people think of me, so I would just want to make them uncomfortable.

The only reason they would be talking about me in the first place is because their either jealous or have low self-esteem. Maybe a combination of both.

Best to listen, they may say something you can learn from. If you can become a better person as a result you can later thank them! or just keep quiet and smile at your victory.
Defence is defeat, you'll can't erase what's been said. Marching over, as you say, will make matters worse

March right over and find out what I did that warranted a conversation about ME! I love doing that, go ahead tell me what you think I did LOL. Really its pretty sad when people have nothing better to do then start rumors!

It depends. If the person is only gossiping about me, I would let it slide. However, if that person is flat-out lying about me, then I would definitely speak out. Lies have a way of taking on a life of their own and I wouldn't want others to believe stories about me that aren't true.

If they are not paying your bills, feeding you, or sleeping with you who cares.
If they are talking about you they are giving someone else a break. Tomorrow they will be on someone else if you defend yourself you are showing that you really care about how they feel about you. They will be talking for days how they made you mad or how quick your temper is and they will have the last laugh.

This happened to me in the loo, as the girl was trying to describe who she was talking about it started to dawn on me who it was. I shouted "that would be me,!". By the time I could sort myself out she had left the toilets and I had to go on over and ask her to tell us all what was so interesting. It turned out she had me down for doing something that happened while I was still at home getting ready. So she looked stupid didnt she?

this has happened many time..i let the people talk about me and just note what is true and what is not...most of the problems are problems the people have with me and I can either change my actions or remain the same person I am...but i always like to hear what is said about me...good or bad...as you learn more from your enemy then a "friend"...an enemy will always tell you what they think about you...it might not be pretty..but usually there is some truth to it...learn from this information...

I think it depends on the situationand where you are when you overhear it. If you are in the same room and they talk loud enough for you to hear them, then Yes, I would confront them and clarify whatever is true.
If I am passing by, it could be considered eavesdropping.

There's an old saying that you'll never like what you hear if you eves drop on someone elses conversation.

If it was especially bad I'd go over there and glare at both of them, let them know I heard what they said. Then I'd walk away... they're not worth the trouble of your anger, they're not worth your time. Just walk away & let them stew on it.

If its especially bad I'd grab a bucket of water and splash them.
