like, today, i was at an IMAX 3D, and i just couldnt handle it. there were like, 70ppl there(give or take), and with that, and the 3D effects, i felt isolated and closed off, and, i panicked.

i coldnt calm down at all till one of my friends realized i was curled up in my seat not looking at the way-cool coral formations and fishes(Aliens of the deep was the tytle of the movie)...she reached out and huged me, and i could focouls a little better, but i couldnt compleatly calm down till the film was done and the little kiddoes left(1st-3rd) so i could pace a little.

what is wrong w/that? i dont mind small places usualy, but....and i usualy can handle groups, what happened?

(yes, i knwothis was posted 2wice, i want mor answers)

First, there's nothing wrong with this. We all have to identify the sort of environments in which we are most comfortable. You may have trouble filtering all the stimuli that are coming at you- crowds, noise, visual kinetics. It's important to be aware of your sensitivities. Keep track of the times you feel this way. Try to locate yourself so that you have greater mobility- near the back of a theater, on an isle, where there is a door. You can learn to cope over time.

To me it sounds like a combination of being closed in with so many people you don't know and too much ocular stimulation in a dark environment.

Even if you're not claustrophobic, the feelings of being closed in can effect you in high stress situations, especially when the lighting is turned low.
All the people, all those strangers probably didn't help either.
And the movie must have been too much for you. I know those 3D movies always give me a headache.

I'm glad you had a friend there. Next time just cross your arms, remind yourself that you're the one in control of the situation & Breathe.

maybe try starting out with small groups then work your way up to larger ones. just don't throw yourself into a situation that you know you will be uncomfortable with.

you need professional help..you are showing signs of a mental condition...so better to see a shrink and have them explore your thinking process...it sounds like you know your condition...so just tell him or her what you have told us...
