I gave my two week notice at work, and then my employer let me work out all of it but the last 4 days, are they obligated by law to pay me for the last 4 days or only the actual time worked?

Thanks (I live in VA) if it helps at all.

No, they are not obliged to pay you for the days you have not worked. They have to pay you for all days/hours worked and any accrued and unused vacation hours that you may have with them.

Not unless you have sick time or vacation pay coming .
Or you had a contract that said you do .

Otherwise , most jobs are considered "at will" so either party can terminate the job whenever they want .
They owe for hours worked and whatever benefit pay like vacation .

They do not have to pay for accrued vacation in VA and are only required to pay for for actual hours worked.

How smart of them those bastards. Actually what they did is considered a wrongful termination. If you are out of work for a minimum of 7 days (includes the weekend) apply for unemployment. At least let those SOB's pay a little something.
