Have a pool party.

Other than that, don't. 12 years old is too old for birthday parties, in my opinion. My parents stopped when I was 10. After that, some friends and I would get together and go out for supper, paid for by our parents. Either that or we'd have a sleep over, rent movies and have cake.

have a dress up party...let them come as their fave rock star or something...
