No neither me or my partner are Jewish or overtly religious in any way and Isaac would be the surname. But yeah maybe it is slightly too religious............

Who cares what others think!

If you like the name then go for it!

We were constantly being told that the name we chose ("Arthur David William") was "too old fashioned" and why didn't we go for something "cooler and more fashionable!" Lol - it just made me more determined to call my baby Arthur (which we did and his name suits him so well, its really cute and unsual)!

If you and your other half like Jacob Isaac then go for it. Its not your parents and in laws choice, its yours!!!

Personally although I don't like Biblical names myself, those are two really nice established traditional names that will last and suit a boy right through his life, better than giving him some horrible trendy "fashion" name that will date or a cutesy name that sounds sweet on a baby but silly on an adult man!

Even though Isaac is the surname I love the two together. Jacob Isaac is a lovely name and who cares if it sounds religious. My children are Eliza and Isaac and even though I believe in god I'm not a church goer and these are highly biblical names. These names just appealed to me and I went with it. You can't go wrong with classic/biblical names. You will find most classic and 'normal' names stem from the biblical era anyway so no matter what you choose (except maybe some madeup weird names) they will have a religious background.

If you love the name Jacob then call him that and who cares what people think. I think it sounds great!

Best of luck!

i love the name Jacob and Isaac! when i was pregnant with my second a chose Jacob for a boy or trinity for a girl i had another girl so i named her trinity.
who cares what other people think Ur the one that will be calling her that, why let others sway your opinion or decision if that's what u want then go for it! only then will u truly appreciate what ever name u both decide otherwise u will always feel a little down as that wasn't the name u really wanted! even after trinity was born it took me two weeks to decide to be certain that that was the name i wanted my little girl to have for the rest of her life.
just remember if your happy with a name whether its biblical or not then have it don't let anyone choose it for u, i think it goes really well but people saying too biblical IGNORE them they aren't worth listening to, if u like the name then there is decision! take care and remember this is Ur baby! not theres!
I'm atheist and i called my little girl trinity Rebbecca!
good luck with Ur decision
Lisa

While both the name Jacob and the name Isaac are found in the Bible, they are not 'tied together' in any other way, so that name is not 'too Biblical' at all ... and I actually think it's a WONDERFUL name for a boy ...
I gave my kids all 'four names' (I chose the first and middle, and let each godparent give one) because if the kid 'doesn't like' one name s/he can 'choose' from the other three names for one to be 'called' ... I had only two and 'changed my name completely' ... my kids all LOVE having 'four names' and not just two ... and their kids will all have four names, too ... since mine are now 'all grown up' and having kids of their own.

Hi JD, jacob Isaac is very biblical. but its also a strong name for a boy.
jocob was the son if isaac in the bible and he fathered 12 sons and 1 daughter. so if you do go for this name i hope your prepared for selection boxes for the grandkids, as your christmas will be expensive lol x

well, it does sound very biblical, but its also just a nice name. if u have a spouse--what is there opinion on it? b/c its only your opinion (and ur spouse's) that matters. its not ur parents or inlaws baby.
u might want to choose just one name to use combined with a non biblical name, but if u do want to keep it the way it is, do so, b/c it sounds good together and flows. i really like the name grace, but im not religious at all. sometimes names just sound nice. as long as its not a terrible meaning, it seems fine.

I wouldn't know about the biblical part... but I never liked the name Jacob, simply because it's too common. I prefer unique names, but hey... it's up to you really =)
