The sound on my laptop keeps coming and going I get it back sometimes and at other times it is just gone. I can hear it if I plug in earphones but not anyother way for now any ideas? This is a toshiba. All the audio controls are on nothing is muted. Sometimes it comes back loud and clear after I clean it up think it is a virus?

Could be a problem with your sounds drivers. Download new ones, and do a virus scan for good measure.

Do you have vista? If you have Vista you need to download drivers. If you've already downloaded them, then you need to update them.
