Ill tell you whats it like on my school team and hopefully it might be similar in yours. We have 6 Varsity players, and about 12 JV. On game days, we hold 6 singles match with the first 6 seeds, then 3 doubles match also with the first 6 seeds. doubles team varies. Often the case of rank 1 and 2 doubles partner, then 3 and 4, and then 5 and 6. Team that wins best of 9 takes all. After, the JV gets to play "unofficial matches" with the JV from the other schools. Have fun on your team.

It depends on your schools team size and the competitions team size. There should be at least 3 singles and 3 doubles teams on varsity and JV. Out HS team is literally about 30 people. The extras are subs and get to fill in when teammates are unavailable. They also get to scrimmage against the other teams scrubs as soon as any courts open up when a match is done. Go for it! Good luck.

here in wisconsin, the WIAA requires 4 singles players, and 3 doubles teams for it to be called an official team. the top player on your team plays 1 singles, 2nd plays 2 singles and so on. the top doubles team plays 1 doubs, 2nd plays 2 doubs and so on. rules are the same for jv. there must be 10 players on varsity (no more, no less). u cant have a guy playing singles, and then switching to doubles, he can only play 1 match.

depends on the school sports program and the number tryouts showing up. back in my old high school and in california, we had rank 1-6 singles (so that's 6 players) plus 3 doubles (that's another 6 players) plus 2-3 backups. some schools are small that when the single players are done playing, they go on and play doubles.

Depends on the size of the school and on the schools tennis coach.
