Does OJ have to pay 1/2 upfront and lose that to the bondsman? What's the scoop if he jumps bail and "Dog the Bounty Hunter" has to go after him?

He was released on $125K bail, not bond.

"Bail" is what gets paid to the court.

Bail can be paid directly by the defendant, or the defendant can pay a bondsman a certain fee (usually 10%) and the bondsman will guarantee the bail to the court.

If he "jumps bail" two things happen -- first, a warrant is issued by the court for his arrest, and the bail is forfeit. That applies regardless of who posted the bail.

Second, if the bondsman posted the bail, then the bondsman can send bounty hunters to collect the person -- as a way to get their bail back from the court.

No, I think only 10%, so $12,500 up front but there has to be some physical collateral worth the whole amount...
