I think lots of colors look great with light grey.
Light grey has been used for decades in men's suits and some of the best colors of ties that are put with it are these:
yellows and golds
reds and salmons
black, silvers and pewters
pale shades of the following: greens, purples, pinks, and blues.
Typically you would use a contrasting color whose shade is not deeper or bolder than the main color--in this case grey. Otherwise it will draw attention to the compliment color rather than the grey.
In the end though, choose the color that fits your skin tones best and that makes you feel happiest and strongest to be around.

Light gray is a great neutral! There are variations of gray. Decide if it is cool or warm (yes, grays can be warm if brown toned) and that will tell you whether you can go with a cool or warm pallet.
We have a gray in our bathroom with a green/salmon/bluish shower curtain sea shell theme. You can do so much with it from magenta to seaweed.
What is the room you are putting the color in? What are the colors in the other pieces? Purposing the room will make a difference in how you combine with the gray.

A light gray is pretty much a neutral color, there for you can use any color you like, from the darkest of dark to the palest of pails. A good thing to do is to take a piece of your pale gray to the paint store and hold it by the different colored chips to see which 1 really catches your eye.

Gray is a neutral and you can put most colors with it . Depending on the occasion I like a true blue or a Burgundy , or pink Stay away from yellow Really it is your chose
