It's like a blendar type, similar to the big ones that are connected to trucks that shred down the tree branches, I am looking into buying a small portable one that I can carry around when doing work in the yard to eliminate the big pile of debris.

Leaf shredder, the bigger ones taht eat wood too are called chippers.
You can buy one that does both, up to branch sizes about the diameter of a quarter and they do a great job.

The one for leaves is a leaf shredder (and it does branches up to about an inch or so in diameter). It comes typically with a pair of wheels to move it around in the yard and will have a place to clip on a bag for the shredded leaves. As I recall it will shred them so six bags full fit into one bag.

Try renting one to get the idea of how to handle it, how tiring it is, and how much work it is to drag those bags. I rented one one year and am considering getting another rental (although the rental ones are tough to take home unless you have a small truck.)

Bigger than that is a brush chipper which you could rent or have a tree service use for you since it would be needed only after things like a hurricane for cleanup..
