The power cord and battery are brand new but the charge light is not coming on. The power cord light comes on so I know it's good and the battery was charged when I got it so I know that's not it. I called Dell and they said it was probably a hardware problem. Would like other opinons. The laptop is 3 and a half yrs old. Thanks !

There might be something wrong in the place were you attach your power cord. Sometimes if the laptop's hard drive isn't responding, it won't work. Maybe you should buy a new hard drive. If that doesn't work just return it.
