If they stay healthy, they got a chance at taking the East. I don't think they will win the NBA title though.
I'm not so sure they can stay healthy.
Pierce missed half the season last year. Allen missed 20 games last year, and he seems somewhat injury prone as he's getting older. KG has been pretty healthy, but he's not getting younger either. And Tony Allen missed half the season last year too.
Health is key, because they do not have much depth. Also, I'm not sure who their backup PG is after Rondo. And their Centers: Kendrick Perkins & Scot Pollard are pretty horrid.
Just look at the Celtics roster, if Ray, Pierce, or KG goes down, they are in trouble.
The Celts should've kept Allan Ray, so that Ray Allen had a backup. Tony Allen as Ray Allen's backup just isn't as funny.

Ok, maybe with this team last season we would be up there but as a whole the east has improved over the summer. A lot of big names from the west are over here and that means the Celtics will have to get past, Cavs, Pistons and other strong teams. I'm not saying that it isn't on but if any of the modern day big three get into injury problems then we are taking a second rate player to replace them and even worse if the injury is long term.
Also, these are three players that over the past however many years have been the 1 dominant force holding their team (Garnett, Allen and Pierce) and now combined in 1 team they will have to make a big adjustment. That being said we do have 3 players that could pretty much win games themself and the chances of all 3 not performing are slim.
So overall, i'm saying its on but i wouldn't say favourites.

It will be interesting to see how these three superstars can play together. Chemistry, I believe, is going to have a large role in their ability to succeed. No one would argue the Celtics are going to do worse; Besides memphis they had the leauges lowest winning percentage last year.
So.....
1. Look for them to be a + .500 team.
And in the east this means (a) you will make the playoffs, (b) you may get home court advantage for the first round.
Alas, I do not see them advancing any further than the Eastern Conference finals. I have the Bulls, Heat, and Pistons ahead of them. Against the Cavs in a 7 game series I cant say who would win.

They have a good chance of getting to the Finals, but they won't have enough chemistry or defense to take them all the way. If they can manage to stay healthy they will have enough firepower to push them through the East. I'm just a little concern about their 1 and 5 spot though.
Rondo is a good defensive pass first PG that will fit in with the Big3, but there isn't really anyone to back him up or mentor him. House was a good signing, but he's just a scoring guard off the bench.
When Kendrick Perkins is your only legit NBA center, you're a little thin at the center spot. Sorry but Pollard and Olowokandi don't count. (that is if they even make it through training camp)
I would love to see how this season turns out though, that's why I love this game!

KG is the man!!...we miss him in MN already and the season hasn't even started. Chances of them winning the Eastern Conference is pretty good i think. As to an NBA title, give it a few years. They are going to be known as the team with the three headed monsters. (KG, Pierce, and Allen) the only missing piece is a good point guard. (Francis or Kidd maybe?)

the celtics will be a fun team to watch, not only do they have the big three, they have a great supporting cast in Rondo, Tony Allen who played very good till he got hurt and he should be healthy now. Scott Pollard is tough loose ball guy, Posey has "D" and tre shot, Eddie House is no slouch either. Let us not forget Scalabrine, they drafted him especially for ther style of play. Most of these players do great for fantasy teams. Last year the Celtics had 0 national televised games, this season they have 10. The Warriors are going to be a fun team to watch also, they will lead the league in PPG I predict. Who knows how many games the Celtics are going to win. If they play unselfishly, they can do lots of damagein the league. Will they? That's the question we all can't wait to see. Doc Rivers finally has his dream team, No more excuses for him.

They have an OK chance of winning the Eastern, but they have absolutely NO chance in the finals. Garnett, Pierce, and Ray Allen are good but they aren't 6 extra people.

I think they will be very good and should be in the playoffs for the first time in a long time...Time will tell if they can compete with Miami, Detroit, and San Antonio...I think they are right up with those guys, better than everyone else...
