most banks nowadays wont make change unless you have an account with them.

I have never had a problem with this, but I always go to a bank where I have an account. I also routinely pay for gas or groceries with quarter rolls or dime rolls, and I've never had a problem.

For lower denomination coins, I either roll them and take them to a bank where I have an account, or go a grocery store or bank with a Coinstar machine, and let the machine do the counting. Those Coinstars are great!

And why would I care why you need the information?

It depends on the bank. Some banks require you to have an account with them. Some banks (Washington Mutual) don't even accept coin deposits. The bank will need to open up the rolls and put them thru the coin counter.

Banks have been burned in the past, so they may or may not take rolled change.

You might try cashing the change in at a restaurant. They usually need change and might take it if it's just a few rolls.

Depends on your bank. Most banks will not do that. Your best bet is to go to a coin star in a grocery store. There is a fee for those, but at least you'll get your cash.
