If you're talking about "vote for me" flyers that come in the mail, maybe they're supposed to be recycled because they're paper. It depends on what your refuse collector's policy is.

EDIT - If you mean campaign signs placed in yards and on streets, then SpotsB4 is correct. It is the responsibility of the various candidates to pick up their signs after the election is over. Usually their volunteers do it, or paid help if the candidate can afford it.

Though refuse collectors may be well-paid, they still don't have $1000 a plate funding behind them to pick up that kind of slippery garbage!

Because they would never be able to get the job done in the time allotted them on a daily basis. It would be a 24/7/365 job. You couldn't pay ne enough tobe away from home for that long.

They make the campaigns do their own work. That way campaigners do not take excessive advantage of public property and services.

In my neighborhood you can barely see a blade of grass in the median strip. If there were no repercussions, the taxpayers would be paying for all of that and more.

What, your trash collectors go through your trash now??? If you pay for service, you should get it. That being said, nobody has to give you service if they don't take your money; you can't force them to work for you.

Beyond that, without knowing more details of the situation, I can't speak intelligently to the problem.

Because it's labour intensive with cut-backs meaning uplifts are more conservative. More liberal uplifts would be a monster raving loony policy and politically green in the extreme!!
