I currently own a Betta who is over a year old. My last Betta was almost 6 years old. You should feed your Betta daily. Don't over feed. If you ask the question because you will be out of town for a while give it Betta vacation food which will probably last you about 3 days. Don't even think of trying not to feed your Betta for a week. Vacation food isn't as bad as some make it out too be. If you will be gone for more then 3 days find someone that can take care of it while you are gone. With proper care Bettas can live a long time. The problem is most people don't give a Betta the care it needs.

Bettas can go for weeks without food,it's not good practice but they will survive. Here's a trick that will provide for Betta's for a long time if you have to be away. Set up a nice large tank, near and open wind(screened of course) and over it place a light bulb with a timer. Set the timer so the light is on during the early evening hours until,oh say,10:30 or 11:00 pm. The light will attract small flying insects and the Betta will figure out what they're for in short order.
I've never done this out of doors in the summer, but it's on my to-do list. It should be an excellent way to condition breeders.
By a large tank I mean a large tank for a Betta,perhaps a 10 gallon filled half-way.

A betta can go up to a week without food completely unharmed. It can survive for another week on top of this, but will probably take a blow to its health.
By the way, water changes should be done way more often than once every eight weeks. Even 100 gallon tanks need 25% water changes weekly. Tanks smaller than 1.5 gallons should have water changes done twice a week.

Technically a betta can go up to 2 weeks without food (if healthy to begin with), but it's definitely not recommended to go longer than a week. Don't use vacation feeders or automated feeders. The blocks foul the water way too fast and the automated feeders often malfunction, either starving the fish or fouling the water up. Also, Bettas are carnivores and need MEAT. If they are starving they'll eat plants or plant roots, but to make that their main source of nutrition is cruel. So is not doing a water change for EIGHT WEEKS!! (I CAN'T believe I just read that!). Make sure the top of the tank is covered with a secure lid, too, as they are jumpers and WILL jump to their death.

to keep a healthy betta, and if you HAVE to leave him without food, i would go for 5 days max. i've left mine for 4 days with no harm done. you can get holiday feeders on a timer to let small amounts in on set days.
never get those holiday blocks though, they funk up the water, the fish don't eat them, it's more likely to kill the fish than feed it.

If you have a plant with algae on its roots in the bowl with the beta, he can live indefinitely. You don't have to feed him at all. But they like being fed, so I usually give him a little treat. Don't overfeed--the uneaten food makes the water acidic, and could harm him. He needs his water changed every 8 weeks.

About a 2 days, but if you don't feed after 3 days they will die.
For ex: Don't wait a day to feed it, you give it food but it won't eat it, it will die.
: ) hope I helped!
