okay. my whole family was suppose to receive a check for each child for like social security of something like that. thats what my mother told me. anyways, in order to receive them we have to send in our birth certificates. my eldest siter cant find hers so we will not get the checks until she gets the copy of her birth certificate. She has asked and payed for a copy of her birth certificate and still hasnt gotten it. she thinks they might just be trying to get money or something. we really need the money,my other sister hasnt eaten in 3 days and my brother needs a car, and my other brother is dead broke. what to do??? we cant afford to get a lawyer.

If you have requested and paid for a copy of the birth certificate from the county clerk/recorder where your sister was born, it should be sent within about 30 days. It doesn't happen instantly because they have a lot of things to do and they have to find the thing.

If you want it right now, go to the county office and do it person.

As for not eating--go to the county and get some food stamps and other assistance, while you all look for some jobs!

first of all, you don't mention any ages, or why you are supposed to be getting benefit checks. Survivors benefits or disabilty related payments cease at age 18 for each child unless still in school.

who did she ask and pay for her birth certificate. If she did it in person, she should have recieved the copy on the spot. She should also have a receipt for any money spent. If it was through the mail, or over the internet, these things take time to be processed.
Whether she's been proven or not should not affect benefits for the rest of you. Even if it's welfare benefits, you should still collect for the rest of you.
It sounds to me like your brother needs a job, not a car.

Social Security lawyers are paid on a contingency -- they don't get paid until you do -- so you don't need money to hire a lawyer. You just need a case.

I'm not sure your mother is being honest with you. (And that's if you are being honest with us.)

A phone call as a follow up to the town/city hall that is suppose to send the birth certificate would be appropriate. Be courteous and make sure to ask for the person's FIRST name in case you have to follow up again.

what you need to do is contact the city you were born in and speak with an administrator/supervisor. Explain you situation...u paid for a copy and have yet to receive it....if you live in the same city you were born...ask to physically come pick it. the only thing is it usually takes 6-8 weeks to receive a new copy...they have to reprint it on the certified paper...not mention do a back ground check on your sister to make sure she's who she says she is.

These things take time to process. Sometimes up to a month. Then another month or so to get the first check.

First of all, apply for food stamps. 2nd go to any and all churches around and beg for food. 3rd of all, she should have gotton her birth certificate as soon as she paid for it. YOu can go to your local cities court office to pick one up.Look it up on the internet. 4th of all, sell something or anything for that matter even if you have to give blood. 5th of all pray, your going to need it. Good luck.
