In San Antonio the best place is in the spring in McAlister Park. Right now, you'd have to go to Fredricksburg, there is this place that sells flowers and everything Texan on the way to Johnson city from Fredricksburg. I don't recall the name, but I am sure the people in Fredricksburg could tell you. It's awesome. I have only been there once and it was the winter, but a hint, this is a good time of year to plant bluebonnets, so that your own yard will have them come the spring.

The best places to see bluebonnets in mass, during the sping when they bloom is to drive up the more rural highways with large ranches and fields. Close to San Antonio, that is usually up in the hill country on 281. But I think they are better in the upper east Texas areas

Well, firstly you are in the wrong season. Bluebonnets bloom in the spring.

That being said, during the spring time the medians of pretty much any major highway or thoroughfare in this part of the world will be covered during the springtime. You should have absolutely no difficulty finding a good patch.
