While this is certainly possible, remember that Down's syndrome is a low incidense genetic anomoly due to the presence of an extra chromosome 21.

The estimated incidence of Down syndrome is between 1 in 1,000 to 1 in 1,100 live births. Each year approximately 3,000 to 5,000 children are born with this chromosome disorder. It is believed there are about 250,000 families in the United States who are affected by Down syndrome. (link to ds-health.com below)

If you take out those under the age of puberty -estimated at 14 years x 5000 or 70K, that leaves you with 180K above the age of puberty. If you take into account that 10% of the entire population is GLBT, then you can estimate 18K of people with Down's that are gay. When you consider the current population of the US is 303 million, this 0.006% or 1/6th of 1 percent. This is a very small number. And when you take into account that a % of those can't become sexual due to the severity of their downs, the number is reduced again.

People with Down syndrome experience the same
range of sexual feelings as the general population. (link to ndss.org below)

Just a little more info:
Although persons with Down syndrome seldom reproduce, it is necessary to provide them with a healthy understanding and orientation toward sexuality. Pregnancy has been rare, probably as a result of sexual isolation in institutions, but sometimes does occur

As a grandmother of a child born with Down Syndrome, here's what I know: My grandson is that 1 in 681 born with Down Syndrome every year. Truth be told, the numbers are more like 1 in 700. As far as being homosexual??? I'm not sure. He is only 8 months old. I've seen and read about kids with Down Syndrome getting married, having children, etc. He is far too young yet to understand or to even attempt to have a girlfriend (I hope!!!! lol). I honestly believe being homosexual is a "way of life" and not a "genetic mutation". I think what everyone fails to realize is that people with Down Syndrome REALLY do function as any "other" person, so, I guess it stands to reason they, too, could be homosexual......I've yet to see an article on this, but would be interested in seeing one.....

Actually, I think the answer will eventually be shown that there are two reasons for being homosexual. One is that it IS genetic... likely resulting from a hormone imbalance within the mother while she's pregnant. In the other case, it IS an emotional problem... usually resulting from some childhood experience. In such cases, those are the ones that with proper counseling can resume a normal lifestyle. And I do say "normal" on purpose, because for either reason, it is a result of something that has happened to change the normal process of sexual development.

This is an interesting question. I wish that some of the people with definitive yeses would elaborate, some details, anecdotes or SOME info.

Do you really mean downs in particular or any sort of developmental delay? I know that there is sexuallity, so I would guess there is homosexuallity.

Off to look for a study!

Indeed yes, there is. All evidence (and there isn t much) seems to point in one direction; viz., that Down Syndrome occurs in the homosexual population at the same rate as the heterosexual population. There is an article online that details the story of one young gay man with Down Syndrome at http://themighty.com/2015/04/meet-a-gay-man-with-down-syndrome-who-doesnt-let-labels-define-him/#ixzz3mzinjs2i

Down's syndrome is a congenital condition. Hence, there are chances of a person afflicted with it and being homosexual too, just as much as there are chances of that person being heterosexual and having Down's syndrome.

I don't know but I did date this hot guy once that had some handicaps from being in a car accident. =(

I could also walk down the street with him and hold hands without people turning and commenting on the gay couple. They prob thought i was like his health aid.
