I'm travelling to Cuba later this year and know that it is not possible to use American credit cards/Travellers Cheques there. But what about a Nat West Switch/Maestro card?

As long as its not American bank based you can use a credit card, tip though, you get charged for using it and as things are so cheap in Cuba you are better off taking sterling with you instead.

Visa and Mastercard that are not routed via US banks can be used in Cuba.

Switch/Maestro - not that I am aware of.

PS and watch out - a number of UK banks use MBNA for their cards. ANY MBNA card will not work in Cuba.
