Alan tells of his first meeting with then President-elect Bush on Dec. 18, 2000, at the Madison Hotel in Washington. I recall this breakfast meeting very well, especially Alan's comments on the state of the economy. The Fed chairman told the president-elect and our team that America faced the real possibility of a recession in the wake of the collapse of the late 1990s technology sector bubble. Alan's prediction proved correct: In the final months of the Clinton administration, the nation began an economic slowdown that turned into a recession.

You mean the depression which will be the end result? I don't think so.

You can not have uncontrollable spending and be cutting how much you are getting in, for what ever reason. The dollar is at it's lowest point since it was created, another words, it takes MORE money to buy the same thing a few years ago, resulting in huge personal depts for people to live the same that they did 6 years ago.

I believe that the outstanding work he has done in saving our economy will go unrecognized. The ones who should be thanking him are the many able bodied people who sit on their backside collecting handouts and serve only as breeding machines. Without Mr. Bush's wise decisions, we hard working Americans would not have jobs to support those leeches. In a nutshell, it should be the Democrats who thank him!

Umm....maybe it's because of the THREE TRILLION dollars he added to the national debt. Spend now, pay later.

I remember when the Pubs could be counted on for sound fiscal policies. It's obviously not at the top of thier list any more.

BS. It wasn't Clinton's recession. The economic collapse we're undergoing is a problem caused by factors much larger than mere presidential policies.

And if the economy gets better, it won't be Bush's economy.

It has nothing to do with politics, except the part where politics maintains a crappy status quo.

True history shows Ronald Reagan to be of the best American presidents ever. The left reject that reality as well, still believing Carter and Clinton were the best. Go figure.
