What is he suing God for? Money? How is he going to collect?
It's a silly political statement.

Against this guy?
(1) Courts have no personal jurisdiction over God.
(2) There's no way to serve God with process (there are people who claim to be his agent, but "apparent authority" means only when the PRINCIPAL has taken action to give the agent authority for service... and there is no observable evidence that God has ordained anyone... at least not in the last 1500 years or so...)
(3) There's no remedy that a court can order from God. God doesn't use currency, and people can't enjoin god.
(I'm sure there are others... there have been a number of suits against God... they usually don't make it past a motion to dismiss...)

Sen. Chambers is suing God to make a point that anyone can sue anybody for any reason, or for no reason.
The action to be taken against Mr. Chambers is the same as for anyone else who files a frivolous lawsuit--throw it out and impose a fine for being a fool.

The purpose for his suit against god is in protest to the frivolous nature of the judicial system. He wants to show that in our judicial system anyone can sue anyone else for anything. Not to mention that a good lawyer can win a case no matter how ludacris the case is.
**********************************************************************
Nebraska State Senator Ernie Chambers has a new target these days: God.
Chambers filed a lawsuit in Douglas County Court Friday afternoon. However, Chambers isn't suing God because he has any kind of beef with the deity. He says the suit is to fight possible laws restricting the filing of frivolous lawsuits.

It's a political stunt on Senator Chambers' part. It's frivolous and nothing will come of it. And why would you spend all night in a dangerous area of town? Why not just go to the courthouse in the morning?

Maybe he's trying to show that a god doesn't exist because he won't know who to serve the papers to.

Nothing. If you chose to spend the night by the court house, that's your decision.
