It can be considered racist, because the supports of the confederacy supported slavery.

I'm actually not really bothered by the Confederate Flag. The Confederate Flag is usually used as a symbol of southern pride. However with the flag being used in the Civil War in order to preserve slavery, it is usually looked at a being "anti-black". I personally think the Confederate Flag needs a change, it should instead represent the changes in the south, for making it a better place for all minorities. It needs work but its much better than the old days.

To those that only embrace bias spin generally taught by others, of course it is. These people can turn ANYTHING into racism. To those that embrace heritage, truth, and UNBIAS EDUCATION - no, it never will be. You'd be suprised at what people say about the confederate flag without one source but their dad or Al Sharpton, without ever having picked up a book or researched the topic. The thoughts and statements of such people means less than nothing.

For the record....most people don't know much about the swastika either.

Seeing as how slavery was not the only thing the civil war was about, nor the main reason it started, that one is kind of up for grabs. Seriously, research it.

I don't think most Southerners thought of it that way years ago, but, knowing that its symbolism hurts or offends others, why continue to promote its use? Nothing is lost by being kind.

It changes depending on the person.

Someone (A white person) said it means southern pride.

Then when I asked him If I could where a confederate flag shirt and he said it would not be right and would be extremely wierd.

Why is that?
I thought it meant only southern pride?
Or does it mean something else?

If you say it means racism they will litterally start crying because it means alot to them.

Ok, some people say it's their heritage, but how can you use the same symbol that represented slavery 150 years ago, and the KKK and skinheads use today and say it's not racist? Could someone hang a swastika and say they're just proud of their German heritage and it doesn't mean they hate Jews? No way!

Swastika 4 L's stand for LUCK, LOVE, LIFE, LIGHT. NOTHING RACIST.
