Past or present. We all have some. Jake Woods is one of mine. Led the AL in triples in 1961 for the Detroit Tigers. Always wished he'd've made it bigger.

Tony Taylor, infielder for the Phillies. Tough little guy and a good fielder. Tony Gonzalez in the outfield for them, too. Lifetime .300 hitter.

Camillo Pascual. Pretty darn good pitcher for the Senators/Twins.

These days, guys like Tom Flash Gordon are good. How about your favorites??

I liked Mark Gubicza (spent his entire career with the Royals with the exception of a couple games with the Angels) and Mike Moore (had his best days with the A's, spent some time with the Mariners and Tigers too)
Just a couple of sub .500 career pitchers, won a World Series ring each, both made the All Star team in 1989. Moore was actually the first overall draft pick back in 1981, but never acheived great numbers. Both had some good seasons, but neither will head to the Hall.

I was always a big Buddy Biancalana fan back in the day. He was never a great player by any means, but you could just tell that he worked his butt off trying to succeed in the majors.

Nowadays, I like Mark Teahan. A lot more people would know who he was if he played somewhere outside of KC.

Jose Oquendo - The Secret Weapon. Whitey Herzog could literally put him at all 9 positions in a game and we would excel at every one of them. Today he's a great 3rd base coach for Tony LaRussa and manager in the Puerto Rican leagues. He'll make a good MLB manager soon!

Probably Jorge Posada. If A-Rod wasn't having a magical season, Jorge would be a great MVP candidate.

He goes unnoticed a lot because of guys like Alex and Jeter.

Ross Gload. He was a great utility guy for the White Sox for some years, and had a really good year for KC this year.

I used to like Eric Owens who played for the Marlins about 5-7 yrs ago. He always tried hard and his uniform always got dirty. I think he used to slide into the on-deck circle just to get dirty :P
