Muggsy Bogues in history at 5'3. Spudd Webb was before Bogues at 5'7. Later Bogues came along drafted by Washington Bullets and was even shorter becoming the shortest. Now Earl Boykins at 5'5 is the shortest current player. But Muggsy still holds the record. Talk about a fun player to watch. He could really play too.

Tyrone Curtis Bogues (born January 9, 1965, in Baltimore, Maryland), better known as Muggsy Bogues, is a retired American professional basketball point guard and former head coach of the now-defunct Charlotte Sting of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). He played for four teams during his 14-season career in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is best known for his involvement with the Charlotte Hornets. He is also the shortest person to play in the NBA, standing at 5 feet 3 inches (160 cm) tall. Bogues also played for various teams including the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Washington Bullets, Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors.

For current players, Earl Boykins (born June 2, 1976 in Cleveland, Ohio) comes in a close second with the height of 5'5 (1.65 m), and is now playing for the Milwaukee Bucks.
