Hello! I'm only one year in the US. And now I'm pregnant. What should I do next?

P.S. I have no medical insurance...

Oh I can only imagine how you feel right now! Such a scary/exiciting experience for sure. Here's what I always suggest. Go to your local bookstore or even your local library and check out the book What to Expect When You're Expecting. It's a complete guide to everything you can expect through pregnancy, even organizations to help you, what to ask the doctor, everything. You also might want to contact your local Department of Human Services if you're having a hard time with money and they can help you with medical insurance to get check ups for the baby. They're very good with questions too and if the father isn't wanting to be involved they can assist you with paperwork for child support etc.. Good luck and congratulations!

Check your area and see if they have anything like Baby Your Baby it is set up by the state and will help to make sure you get to the Doctor it is very important that you see a doctor in your first trimester. Check with your local area health department or Social Service Department they should be able to point you in the right direction. How old are you? Have a baby at an early age can be very dangerous so you really need to be seen by a doctor if you are young. You have a computer so you can get information for your are off of the internet. Good luck

What state do you live in? Where are you from?
There is most likely a medicaid program in your state which will provide you with insurance throughout your pregnancy under certain conditions. Get this insurance if it is available, and go see a doctor ASAP. You need to have regular Dr's visits all throughout your pregnancy and follow everything the doctor tells you. Having a baby here is just like having a baby in any other country: when it's time, it's time. You can e-mail me if you have any questions.

WHAT!? You're not going to march, lock-step with the thousands of other women who go get a perfectly good human being sucked into a sink?

If you are ready to be a mother, and provide this child with a nourishing environment in which to grow for the next 18 years, then I know you will find a way ...

If not, PLEASE don't fall into the RIDICULOUS rhetoric that it's just too hard to have a baby or that it's just too hard to give the child up for adoption.

The child you have CHOSEN to carry now has rights; the right to life, the right to an intact family, the right to make choices for herself, etc.

Your "right to choose" didn't start today; it started long before you had unprotected sex. Now is your chance to choose the right course of action.

You may have only be in the US for one year, but obviously you have already learned that if you have no insurance, the government will take care of you and your baby. That's just great. Now I have to pay for YOUR prenatal visits, YOUR delivery and probably YOUR child's healthcare until it's 18.

No wonder our economy is going down the toilet.

You need to apply for your state's low income health insurance program as soon as possible. The program should have a list of OB/GYNs that accept this insurance, and make an appointment as soon as possible.

Looking at your post script, it seems that you should use a contraceptive in the future, as well as have the gentleman wear a raincoat. Seems to me that if you're pregnant, you're going to have a baby and then apply for welfare.
