Whats the difference between "denatured alcohol" and regular rubbing alcohol? Can I find it at a regular store?

Use a heat gun or a hair dryer to warm the old caulk. It will get soft and much easier to get out once you have warmed it up. After you have most of it out you can clean up the residue with denatured alcohol. "Denatured" simply means it has been adulterated and rendered undrinkable.* You could also try plain old rubbing alcohol.

*Were it not for being denatured all the winos would buy out all the gallon cans of alcohol from Home Depot for their lunch and dinner.

I use those cheap plastic putty knives Walmart carries. They can be "sharpened" and do not scratch the finish on the tub. Then use denatured alcohol to do a final cleaning.

use a utility knife or razorblade to cut it loose from the wall

then use a putty knife (plastic or metal) and scrape it loose from the tub
you will want to be careful scraping on the tub so as not to gouge it

mainly it takes time to do it right, go too fast and you can gouge the drywall or the tub, but it needs to be removed well so the new caulking has a clean flat surface to adhere to
