I have vocie mail on my phone and it says that its activated and when i ask to listen to my answer phone message it works alright but when people ring me the phone just keeps ringing and ringing and never goes onto voice mail. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

your diverts are missing, you have 3 basic diverts that need to be activated for your voicemail service to work
- busy
- no reply
- not reachable
each diverts for a different reason, you need to setup each divert to your voicemail number, as mentioned, this can be done via the call setup option in your phones settings, make sure you divert the call to the international number +447etc.... not just 07etc.... otherwise it wont work.
if you cannot do it, contact your network provider who should be able to do it for you

Check your call diverts,(usually found in call settings or network services) if you do not have any diverts active then callers will never get diverted to your voice mail.

Sounds like the phone may need to be reprogrammed. I'd call your carrier's tech support number
