for giving an honest answer and opinion?what do you think of that?someone ask a question regarding a name for a baby?a made up ridicioulous name and are mad because i told them what a terrible selfish idea that was!!! honestly if you want to think your "unique" fake name is so great why bother to ask?everyone does not lie to spare your feelings, someone must speak the truth if you dont like it too bad!!have you ever been violated over something so stupid yet important???i should not be punished for stating the facts just because someone else does not wish to accept the truth!!!people give their dogs and cats more respectable names, for crying out loud!!!!

Yeah I got a violation notice once for reporting someone who was spamming the boards and posting fake questions. So I wrote a nasty complaint letter back, got a generic "We are sorry you are unhappy" form letter.

Eh... Ive all but given up on reporting spammers because it obviously does no good.

But I agree! Spelling a name backwards, or deliberately mispelling it, or adding a Sha or a Li or a lyn or an Anna onto it, does not make it original. There are tons of original, gorgeous REAL names out there that are wonderful and you dont have to add or change anything to make it that way.

PS: Madison, Brianna, Nevaeh and Abbie are not unique. Pretty common nowadays people. But if you like it, dont fool yourself that its unique. Just name your child and get on with it!

There were people who actually thought they could name my babies for me. They really believed that I didn't care. And they did get away with it once, because I had already signed the birth certificate without a name, since I had not chosen one yet. I hadn't because I was expecting a boy and had a girl. Now, as an adult, she goes by that name rather than the perfectly respectable nickname I gave her, which really is not too different. I understand that the other is her legal name, but when I get letters from her with it, it bothers me. But what bothers me more is when I call her and her husband pretends not to know who I'm asking to talk to.

It sounds more like you are being mean then giving an opinion. You do realize that at one point all names were made up. If they werent then everyones name would be adam and eve. (just an example). Names get made up so do words just because its a name someone thought up doesnt mean its not great. Yes they may ask for your opinion but you dont have to try to make people feel dumb or hurt peoples feelings. You should just say that you dont like it and move on. They shouldnt have violated you for it but then again you dont have to be so insulting to people ina fragile state. Also who are you to judge what is respectable and what is not for some jack maybe a respectable name for others damion or demeris or mason might be. I think you need to get with the times and understand people dont all think like the old generation. and linda and bob are just a little too lack luster for some, some people would like to have beautiful names for children that are exotic and unheard of.

People should be prepared for the truth but you dont have to say it in a mean way you could always be nice about it. How does it effect you if their kids name is made up? Who cares.

I received a violation notice for a very stupid reason as well. My answer didn't violate any rule or guideline. And I can't get a good reason why from Yahoo.

Watch out, I would expect them to violate this question. : - )

lol! I do agree, you ask a question, you shouldn't get mad at any answers, especially when asking for an opinion, not help.
But, then again, how violated can you be?? does this really affect your life in a big way?

Amen! I've noticed a terrible trend in people picking random names and adding "lyn" to the end. Jesslyn, Brilyn, Jenlyn...

As a Gwendolyn... I cringe.
