My 10 year old and I were just talking about this because she has been writing poems, what is love how do you describe love? It is different for each and every individual because we all feel love in our own ways. Unfortunately there are some people that never really know what love is or ever experanced love. To me love is so general and it's a hard thing to just put into a few words. Love is smell, touch, sight,a thought or idea, love is to love or to be loved, love is a feeling, a place. a time or date, love is in so many degrees.... a simple love, a love between friends, a mothers love, a childs love, an undying passonate love.... love above all else is wonderful simply wonderful! Not only is love a desired thing but it is actually a required thing needed for survival, almost as much as water and air!
Love is everywhere....walk outside and look around, love is in your thoughts as you remember going to the park as a child with your grandparents. Love is in the hospital pediatrics dept. such small children as well as big childern trying to get better, parents waiting there is love!
Love is in the humane society....animals waiting to share their love with a new adoptee or the workers giving their love to the needy animals.
Love is in your head and heart....love is not only what you recieve but what you give! Love is christmas time, candles and the warm smell of sugar cookies right out of the oven made by grandma herself.
Love is the feeling you have inside when ever he walks past you and your heart seems to speed up slightly, or the feeling when you smell his cologne and he is not around but you long to smell him.
Love is your mom holding you when you are sick and don't feel well even if you are all grown up with your own childern.
Love is each and every one of my children, love was me and my husband, concieveing my children, my child being born, my child as an individual ,a wonder that love has created!
Love is a big slice of devils food cake and a glass of cold milk!
Love is life and the persuit of happiness....
love is forever and eternal!
Love simply is......

I actually really like the manic street preachers description
"a finely tuned jealousy" it always makes me think.
Sounds cynical, but the line between the two is so fine that you could be slightly forgiven at a young age to get the two muddled up.
Not to worry though, I'm also dishing out the old adage of "you'll just know"
Im an advice machine, hear me roar! :o)

Oh, oh, oh yeah and also can i take the opportunity to quote some old kylie:

"Love is not a gadget,
Love it not a toy,
When you find the one you love,
you're heart will fill with joy"

Wow. It's such strong emotion,a personal attraction, an affection for someone that is so difficult to put into words; I don't know why I'm trying.
It can overtake you at any age,no matter how old we get. This is crazy, but we may at a certain age decide that we can't drive anymore and stop. But someone in their 90's even older can meet someone and well, it makes them feel like they want to get behind the wheel again. You can be young and want to wish your years away, wish you were old enough be closer to her/him.. You are powerless. You gain or lose weight, decide to go to school or quit.Your personality changes for better or worse. Once you have loved and even lost you are never the same

Love is truly indescribable. You can fall into it, you can even drown in it. But you can tell when you're really in love.

The definition, for me, has something to do with being willing to do anything for that person - whether it's a friend, family member, or someone you're in a relationship with... you'd die for them, you'd walk three miles barefoot on a hot road if they needed you to...

Love isn't always easy, although it's amazing when it is. It makes you feel floaty and warm inside, and just the thought of the guy/girl you love makes you smile.

It gets hard sometimes, too. You fight, you get upset... love can even really hurt you. Even if it doesn't work it, it doesn't mean you didn't really love them.

"The apostle Paul gives us an amazing analysis of what love is. It is a compound thing. It is like light. As you have seen a scientist take a beam of light and pass it through a crystal prism, as you have seen it come out on the other side of the prism broken up into its component colors-red, and blue, and yellow, and violet, and orange, and all the colors of the rainbow-so Paul passes this thing, Love, through the magnificent prism of his inspired intellect, and it comes out on the other side broken up into its elements. And in those few words, we have what one might call the Spectrum of Love, the analysis of Love. What are it's elements...See 1 Corinthians 13. Notice the elements have common names; they are virtues we hear about every day. They are things that can be practiced by everyone in every place in life; and how, by a multitude of small things and ordinary virtues, the supreme thing, the summum bonum, is made up."

Wow, I could go on and on...Complicated, yet simple, huh?
Read the Bible...The answers are there.

There is no way to describe love actually....

It is just this unexplanatory feeling that you get....while the love for your boyfriend or girlfriend will be different than that unconditional love for your parents, it all makes you feel an array of different emotions....happiness, sadness, disbelief, anger.

That to me is love....and no matter how much that person has pissed you off or hurt you, you still love them and forgive them in a heartbeat.

You can only experience real love when you have learned to look beyond yourself.

When you feel real love you realise it is everything and in everything and yet has no substbance or form and is essentially indescribable. It is the ultimate law that drives, connects and completes us all regardless of our conditioning or perceptions.

Love is th answer it is the solution to the Dialectical questions we have that appear to have no solution. It is every deity that may or may not exist it drives all faith, spirit, soul, chi it is I am we are all together.

It's a strong feeling of connection with someone or a longing to get to know them deeply and to be with them.

You also feel a smile on your face when you see them somewhere without realizing it...

You and that person are always laughing and smiling with each other (obviously, not all the time but quite a bit). You're just plum happy around them!

It's that excitable feeling you have for like 2 or 3 months when you start dating someone hot.

You are just stoked because you know you're going to tap that fine ***!

After that it gets repetitive and becomes a monotonous bore. And then you try to do it again with someone new! Like clockwork! And the world still turns......
