air is not a free good. it does cost money for air to be pumped (usually into tires). try going to a gas station they will make you pay 75 cents for air. sometimes it will be "free" but you have already paid for it with the gas or from the goods in the gas station. air is not free...hope that helps

Anyone who says air is free is confused. Nothing can be free. Did you study economics? Did the concept of opportunity cost just go over your head? The cost of something (anything and everything) is what you give up to get it. What do we give up for air? Well, obviously, if we breath in air, we cannot not breath in air at the same time. SO, obviously it has a cost. Anyone who argues otherwise should either take an economics course, read an economics textbook, retake an economics course or re read an economics textbook. IDIOTS!

The way to determine how air can be charged for is as follows: Assuming everything else is equal, calculate what it would cost to live in a clean air area verse a smoggy air area. There should in theory be some type of premium that people would pay to by in the area with cleaner air.
Of course to assume everything else is equal is a major assumption, but economists seem to do that quite often. The term for that assumption is ceterbus paribus.

Technically, we do pay for some air. LIke, the air you get at some gas stations when your tires are low. That kind of air you do pay for. Other than that, air is pretty much a free good and I'm not complaining. =)

Clean air has a cost as does compressed air. I am going to start charging you to breath air so start sending me $100 a month or I will cut off your supply.

The air outside, that we breath, is free. However, to cleanse the air, say with purifiers, is not free. We also spend $$ on "air conditioning" "central air" and "heated air". we may not pay for the air per say', but we pay to purchase and operate these machines.

I'm sure if someone could sell the air they would. And if lawmakers could tax it they would. I guess air is a free good. I haven't paid for it.

no one can charge for it because everyone has to have it to survive.
