There should be someone at work who can give you the specifics on the company insurance. Some providers won't cover pregnancy if it is previously diagnosed. If for some reason you can't get the insurance, call Social Services. They offer Medicaid for pregnant women. Good Luck!

You can still get insurance, but the pregnancy is a pre-existing condition and probably won't be covered. It's always good to have insurance though in case you have any other non-pregnancy related problems (illness or injury). You also will be able to add the baby when it's born. If you didn't already have insurance, you might have to wait till the next open enrollment to get him or her covered. And even healthy babies have a lot of Dr visits. There's 6 well-child checkups in the first year alone as well as immunizations.

You may be able to get the insurance...however, your current pregnancy will not be covered. (Despite what journie_rose thinks).

Think about it...if you could get insurance after you become pregnant and have that pregnancy covered, who would actually get insurance before then? Do you think an insurance company would provide coverage for someone who has just been diagnosed with cancer?

Pregnancy is defined as a pre-existing condition. journie_rose stated that "they shouldn't even ask you that on the form"...that is also a fallacy. If you fail to mention that you are pregnant on the form (and clearly you know you are), the insurance company can deny any claims you try to make as a result of your misrepresentation on the application.

You would need to check with them for certain but generally group insurance through your employer does not view pregnancy as a pre-existing condition.

As the HR Administrator for the company I used to work for, I shopped for the medical insurance for the company. Since my husband and I were trying to conceive, this was the 1st question I asked all the ins. agents just in case it happened before the insurance went into effect (all of them said I would be covered)!!!

I have the same problem. I go on the insurance OCT 1st. But I called them like a dumb a** cuz I wanted to start with a doc thet they would cover when I went on the insurance. So let me know what they say. AS for medicare its krap you have to make like less then 20,000 a year. So... if your mid. class they will not help you. I pay more in medical bills and test for this baby then I do in rent. Thank God for my boyfriend>

Yes absolutely. Jump on insurance as fast as you can. They cannot deny insurance for someone who is pregnant. Talk to the person in charge of it. The insurance company shouldn't even ask if you are pregnant. Good luck!

you likely ought to attend till open enrollment, to be added. they are going to ought to settle for you, whether, they might exclude pre-present situations, except you have 3 hundred and sixty 5 days of earlier assurance with a lapse of decrease than sixty 3 days. For a team plan, in the event that they provide maternity advantages, being pregnant isn't seen a pre-present situation. needless to say, if the gang plan does no longer incorporate maternity advantages, they won't hide your prenatal/delivery expenditures. whilst the infant is born, that is a qualifying adventure, and you are going to be able to upload the infant to the gang plan. remember, once you upload you, or the infant, to the plan, your husband will probably ought to pay added rates on your coverages.

Probably not; of course, you should talk to your supervisor to make sure.
Most insurance companies see a pregnancy as a pre-existing condition. They will either deny you or allow you to have insurance but at a different rate until the pregnancy is over with.

Generally, yes. Being pregnant does not mean you are denied insurance. However it may mean your initial rates can be higher. Ask your HR rep.
