Heres my situation...Just bought an 8 year old house a few months ago,, and I noticed that my water..in my toilet over a few weeks leaves a red ring(that does scrub off). I also noticed that my rain showerheads around the water jets is beginning to leave a red ring on the individual tips... My "good quality" stainless steel also rusts in the dishwasher.. I tried a different detergent and bought different silverware and same problem..Can anyone help..Is it possibly a chemical in my township water supply or bacteria of some form..Never heard of this...Any knowledge would be great..
Thanks
Brian

If you want to find out if you have hard water, just stick a little dish soap in a bottle and shake it up. If you don't get lots of bubbles you have hard water. Water softeners cost between $100 and whatever you wanna spend at Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, etc.

Have your water tested. It sounds like mineral content.

My Daughter in law bought a new house and never payed any attention to the big thing in the corner of the garage.
After a year they began to question it. It was a water softener.
So they bought the salt and it made a huge difference in the water softness.

where do you live? "dirty" water depends on where you live.
