The same reason prices of other things go down ... because it wasn't selling as well as was expected. (remember the Playstation 3 price dropped recently)

the iphone price went down, because they droped the 4gb model, and drop the price on the 8gb to increase market share; but thats what i think. On September 5, 2007, the 4 GB model was dropped, and the 8 GB model price fell to US$399.

Due to projections of slow sales. At 499 only early adapters and Tech geeks will step up to the plate as it offers the average high end business user no benefits over the tried and true Blackberry or Treo...

iPhone was an answer to a question nobody, except people who could not afford them, asked. No business user gives a damn about video/mp3/ etc.....we want it simple, we want it to work 100%, and we want service options...none of that can be had in iPhone.

THEY ACTUALL CAME OUT WITH A NEWER ONE WHICH HAS MORE FOR LESS IPOD WEB ALL THE WORKS SO THEY JUST LOWERED THE PRICE AND NOT ONLY THAT THEY ARE REIMBURSING PEOPLE BACK ABOUT $200 .
