First, find the place outside of your apt where the condensate
tube ends. try pushing a wire (coat hanger) up this tube as far as possible. A 15' piece of stranded wire should be long enough. If this fails, try pushing the wire from the condensate pan under the a-frame (coils) of the air-handler inside the apartment. An alternative to wire is compressed air - flat tire
cans have about 35 pounds per sq. inch. If you prefer chemicals
try drain cleaners.

jonny m:

Try running a snake up the drain pipe working it back and forth and pulling it completely out on occasion. You could expect to see liquid iron rust in color if your discharge pipe is galvanize or copper. Typically the pipe size will be 1/2" or 3/4" in size. If you elect to try this be sure to add water from time to time flushing the pipe in question.

PS. If the snake has a pig screw end remove it or make certain that it is smaller than the inner diameter of the pipe.

I would freak out if my tenants used draino! The pipe cleaner idea, shop vac or even a coat hanger with a rag wrapped around it is better than that! I agree, I have mine serviced every year before AC season and they usually find that algae is what is clogging that little tube. Just blow out the line with compressed air or a co2 gun. Forgetthe coat hanger or wire ideas. Won't work to well or clear out the blockage

We usually have the A/C people to unclog ours and they use some sort of acid that dissolves the stuff that grows in there. Draino might mess it up totally.

Poke it out with a long pliable wire {copper works}. It is not delicate. Once clear, a little bleach every now and then helps.

Get a coat hanger(wire) or a small screw driver to push inside it and dig everything out to unclog it.
