Like if someone looks like a slob but treats people nicely, does he deserve to be mistreated by his looks? I think that would be wrong. & most people say you're supposed to treat people how you want them to treat you.

Absolutely not. I think the people who deserve to be treat the most nicely are those who are nice. It doesn't matter how anyone looks because the only ugly there is is ugly from the inside and the only beauty that exists is the beauty from the inside. However, it is a sad truth that many people have mistreated because of their looks. Michael Jackson is not the most attractive being on the planet but I think he is beautiful because he is kind to everyone and has contributed a lot to charity, but people forget that as they just see his face and get put off. It's a shame that some people are so superficial and are automatically quick to judge a person by appearance without getting to know them. I'm not surprised that there are people like this, look at the media, how they criticise celebrities for 'looking bad'. No wonder some people have picked up this awful habit of mistreating others because of their appearance.

I particularly like this expression: Beauty is only skin deep but ugly goes all the way to the bone.

You have no idea how many people think I'm an idiot because I'm obese. They seem shocked that I know multi-syllabic words.

I was in Downtown Houston earlier today and there's an old guy standing by the courthouse, looks like he's probably homeless. He basically stands there all day greeting people and it seems he has no other purpose or expectation than to make people's day slightly better with a greeting. People usually reply or wave back to him. Most don't treat him badly because of his shabby appearance, although some do avoid him.

The adage you are describing is "Do as you would be done by".

The golden rule appears in all the major religions for a reason. It doesn't matter what a person looks like, acts like, etc. He or she is still a human being and deserves to be treated with respect.

Just awful. Although I am aware it happens. But I would hate to think I was judging and mistreating someone on their physical appearance.
I might be inclined to hire someone that presents themselves more tidily, since your personal appearance does say a bit about you. But never would I treat someone poorly because they dressed "slobbily" or just did not appear attractive to me.

I would say no but in my experience most people cant fight their urge. I know I try to treat the homeless guy I pick up intoxicated as if he were th e86 y/o grandmother wit the broken hip despite the fact he hasnt bathed in weeks and reaks but when the get beligerant my attitude tends to change

No one deserves to be treated poorly based on their looks. I try to be nice to everyone until they give me a reason not to be.

I would say no, but in the real world people are cruel, and aren't receptive that there are some people that are just different or don't feel as though they should have to look and dress as everyone else does. I myself have been guilty of this.

I have no patience for people who wear 100% spandex outside of the gym!

Its wrong to treat people by the way they look. Its never good to be decieved by appearances. This only creates a shallow mind. The world needs to be open minded.

No. Everyone should treat each other like they want to be treated. This world would be a much better place if everyone could grasp then embrace this very simple concept!

No. But unfortunately that is what often happens.

I remember one time during exams, I had not shaved in a few days, my hair was all messy and didn't nearly get enough sleep (i looked terrrible) - riding the train and all the adults gave me funny looks, but one small girl just started talking to me. It made my day knowing someone was not shallow.
