First, turn all the percents into decimals. You can do this by moving the decimal place 2 to the left. And then multiply the decimal by the number. You would multiply because in a mathematics problem, the word "of" means to multiply.

1. Find 17% of 600
600 x .17 = 6000 + 4200 = 102

2. Find 4% of 80
80 x .04 = 3.2

3. Find 3.2% of 250
250 x .032 = 7500 + 500 = 8

17% of 600
= 17/100 x 600 = 17 x 6 = 102

4% of 80
= 4/100 x 80
= 32 / 10 = 3.2

3.2% of 250
= 3.2/100 x 250
= 32 / 1000 x 250
= 32 x 25 / 100
= 32 / 4
= 8

The important things to know are that percent mean "per hundred." So, 17% mean 17/100. You also need to know that when you take a percent of something, you multiply the number by the percent.

After working problems like this for awhile, you will start to recognize that 17% is 0.17 and 3.2% is 0.032. But for now, it's best to not skip any steps and show all of your work.

1. Find 17% of 600.
600 * 17/100 = 102

2. Find 4% of 80.
80 * 4/100 = 3.2

3. Find 3.2% of 250.
250 * 3.2/100 = 8

I will do the first.

Write the problem as:

Find 17/100 of 600.

Now you see all you have to do is:

(17/100)* 600 = (17*600)/100, simplify as
= 17*6
= 102.

DO there rest this way.

First, find 1% of 600
To find 1% you need to divide by 100
-> 600/100 = 6
Then, multiply this by 17
-> 6*17 = 102

You can use this method on the others too

Divide all of your percents by 100 and multiply them to the number.
ex: 3.2/100=.032
.032*250=8
you can write it out as (3.2/100)(250/1) and multiply numerators and denominators, then simplify.

and so on
