I am an identical twin & my dad's sister has fraternal twins. What is the possibility that I will have twins?

Identical twins can happen to anyone. Fraternal twins are genetic because your body has to produce more than one egg during ovulation. I would say you probably have a higher chance than normal of having fraternal twins because of your aunt. Women who are also more at risk are: women who get pregnant the first month after going off the pill, women who are having their 4th or 5th pregnancy, women who are overweight, and of course, women who use some sort of fertility treatment.

You have a good possibility of twins, congrats! I always wanted twins! Do some research online about twins, and talk to your doctor. If you are pregnant now, you should find out very soon if you are pregnant with twins. Good luck!

1] identical twins do not run in families - it is just a fluke the egg divided and 'decided' to separate at same time.
2] fraternal twins pass through the maternal [ mom's ] side.
So you are not likely to have twins.

Fraternal twins are genetic; identical twins are not. But since he has fraternal ones in his family, your chances are pretty good! Good luck!
