James Patterson - anything like Maximum Ride out there?

I have read the Maximum Ride series as well as When the Wind Blows and The Lake House. Are there some books out there like these? I don't care what age group but I prefer them to be older than a childrens book :). Young teens, You adult, Adult.... Also, were movies made of any of these - no the Lake House does not have Sandra Bullock in it - or any movies that have the same sort of subject?

I've read Eragon and Eldest andn am impatiently waiting for the third book in the Trilogy!! :)
