80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.
Life is like a game of cards. The hand that is dealt you represents determinism; the way you play it is free wil
Life is short, art long, opportunity fleeting, experience treacherous, judgment difficult.
Life is a tragedy for those who feel, and a comedy for those who think.
Life is like a library owned by the author.
In it are a few books which he wrote himself,
but most of them were written for him.
Life's a voyage that's homeward bound.
The whole of life is but a moment of time. It is our duty, therefore to use it, not to misuse it.
To live is like to love--all reason is against it, and all healthy instinct for it.
Life is a pure flame,
and we live by an invisible sun within us.
As I grow to understand life less and less,
I learn to love it more and more

the only real answer lies in what will you serve.
The fact is you were born here. you are of this world.
Why can only be explained by the creator. He, at present is not giving any more answers.
I do not believe it is accidental, incidental or coincidental.
The design is pleasing. It serves us well. I derive from this that we should be pleasing and serve well. Be good for the world and bring lovely things into being.

The way you ask the question requires God for the answer.

Evolution cannot be the answer to a "why" question, only a "how" question. That is because evolution is a mindless natural process. It's like asking a cloud why it put a raindrop on your nose.

If there is no God, then your question is meaningless.

If there is a God, then the answer must be in seeking God for He must have put our great need for meaning into our human nature to point us to seek Him.

I am here to serve God, as well as other Christians. Non-Christians are here for us to teach them about a man named Christ who gave his life so that we may have everlasting life.

God put us here so that He could see, even though He already knew, who would choose to give up the sinly pleasures this short life has to offer, and choose to serve Him.

All you have to do is ask God to come into your heart, to forgive you of your sins, and to save you from Hell. If God is drawing you to do it, and you truly mean it, you will be saved. Then you will be able to answer your own question.

We have a contract with the creator to incarnate and complete certain tasks. If these tasks are not completed we re-incarnate in another life. It's called karma.

To exist, and to know that you exist, so that you may continue existing.

It's all gravity.

The fact that you asked the question means you want there to be an answer, and even if it weren't a positive one, it would still be one to justify your own existence. Either way, you want to exist, and that is the reason you exist.
