Come on people this is history 101 this Jenna 6 thing is no more than clans against clans,?

Question

I can tell you how many times in high school where clans of boys especially, gang up ie, football teams, soccer teams, car clubs, and even get in fights over that stuff, its natural human nature. Do you think for one min. that a white boy playing a violin would be accepted in a black ghetto rap gangsta group? This is common sense, its not even racist as much is it is clanish and group against group competition its been going since man first started swingin sticks and pounding fists. You see this in all primates Gorilla, chimps, baboons and us too, we are the best at rivalry we love war vengence, greed, pride, its all part of what makes us survive.
You see this happening in black on black groups, or white on white, chineese on chineese groups, but the whole nations stands up and notices if its black on white or white on black this is just the infantile nature of our state of being human. Maybe in a few million more yrs we will see the light:)

Yeah, I'm kind of figuring that this was actually rivalry and more of a race against race kind of thing.

I think the majority of people are missing a big point. The nooses were bad and pay not have had a stern enough punishment. 6 kids beating up 1 kid deserves punishment also no matter what race.

BUT I think the racism comes in from the FACT that one of the Jena 6 kids had been beat up at a party by white kids a few weeks before, and had his face cracked with a beer bottle. The white kid that did this just got a battery charge, considered a misdomeanor. and these boys are facing attempted murder and life in prison???????????

Like I said punishments need to be given out, but why not fairly?

I don't know that I agree with your assessment. I volunteer as a mentor with urban youth and, in my observation/experience, they are far more tolerant than America gives them credit for. Far more tolerant than my friends and family back home in GA. As with any group, there are rules of engagement. Those rules may be foreign to some coming into the situation but if you respect them and abide by the rules, "do you" without apology, and leave the condescension at the door, you will get their respect.

Jena 6 would have been "clans against clans" had the law never become involved. When it was taken from the school yard and into a court room, it ceased to be a minor skirmish between disparate groups.

Including the fact that not one witness — black or white, and there were 40 statements taken — connected the jumping/beatdown of the white student (Dec. 4) to the noose incident (Sept. 1).

No one mentions that a black U.S. Attorney, Donald Washington, investigated the "Jena Six" case and held a town-hall meeting explaining that there was no evidence connecting the jumping/beatdown to the noose incident.

Ebola and Rachel make good points here too. When I was in school in the 60's and 70's, there were always various click groups. The pot heads, the nerds, cheer-girls, outlaw thugs, everyone had their own little space to Hang Out. For any other group to Knowingly intrude there.......was a CHALLENGE! Something you just didn't do unless you were intentionally looking for trouble.

people may cry racism in situations that it doesn't apply, but this isn't one of those cases. if people are hanging nooses, it's racial and somebody deserved to get their *ss kicked.
