It was my understanding that to be Top Contributor the majority of your Best Answers (or perhaps majority of all answers) has to be in one certain category. So, if you are like me and have a tendency to jump from one subject to another the likelyhood of being a Top Contributor will be less.
I could be wrong though...

A top contributor is somebody who receives a 10% "Best Answer" percentage in a particular category, not including P&S, which doesn't reward people with such a distinction.

top contributer is by percentage of best answers to total answers he just mass answers with 2-3 words and gets selected a lot
