my first child was 9lb 5oz. i was induced 4 days after my due date. my current obgyn (different guy than delivered my son) has told me my girl will be almost is big, if not the same size as my son was. he acted like he would induce me based on her size at a 38 week ultrasound. well, my husband asked him at our last visit about induced labor and he told him he will only do it if the 38 week ultrasound shows she is 10 lbs or more(!) and even then will only do it at 39 weeks. now im scared he will let her get too big and ill wind up having a c-section. my first was vaginal so i know my body can handle 9 plus pounds but im worried she will be even bigger!! has anyone had a baby this large, vag delivery? thanks.

i havent had the ultrasound yet and cant remember what the tape measure said last time. ive gained the same amt of weight, roughly 40lbs. i was thin when i had my first but overweight during this pregnancy (prior to the weight gain). im just really, really scared of having a c-section and want to avoid it if possible.

Hey!
My sister is very thin and she had 3 vaginal deliveries, 2 of them induced. All successful, all big babies! 7.14, 8.12, and 10.2!

My babies were both teeny and I had c-sections! Go figure. lol (Mine were 5.1 and 6.11.)

Try not to worry. Yes I know, easier said than done! But if you've already had a successful vaginal delivery, your odds are great that you won't need a c-section!

Best of luck!

I worked in labor and delivery for many years, and have seen many large babies delivered; the biggest vaginal delivery I personally witnessed was 11 plus pounds. Mom was 5 foot tall, and tinier than Ashley or Mary Kate!
Not all second babies are larger than first. What gestation are you now, and what size/gestation were you at last ultrasound?
How much weight have you gained, compared with last time?
Most moms with a previous vaginal delivery do a vaginal delivery every time. The weight itself is a small part of the problem; it is the head andshoulder size that will cause the Csection, if necessary.
PS: my mom, me, and all my sisters had smallerbabies the second time! Check with your mom and sisters or aunts - ask how weights compared.
