When I told one of my friends, she was all; "yeah I kinda figured that. I wasted 2 years on you, didn't I?" I like her, but I am not interested in her that way. I am currently working on the others, but my friend said others have asked her if I was gay.

I think "shocked" is the wrong word... Your friends got a very good lesson with you...NEVER judge a book by its cover. Some of the most effeminent men I know are straight as an arrow, some of the most butch I know are Gay....I get a huge kick here from the questions, "how do I know if he is gay,", "What are the signs of...." and on and on and on. There is no such thing as Gaydar, I believe nothing in this vein about anyone unless proven otherwise. And when we get down to it, it shouldn't matter either way unless we are the ones involved with the bedtime scene. Peace and love, Goldwing

I'm not gay, but I live an alternative lifestyle--Bondage, discipline, sado-masochism (BDSM). When I first got with my Master and told my family, most of them weren't surprised. I've always been "different" so I guess they were sort of expecting something unusual from me. My daughter was initially completely anti-lifestyle but has learned to accept it during the past two years that I've been in it. What she hasn't accepted and probably never will is that I am in a polyamorous relationship. My Master owns three slaves and my daughter has a problem with this. While I wish there were only two of us so that we would have more time with Him, I have learned to accept it because I enjoy my "down" time when I don't have to do a thing!
My two cents for what it's worth!

I'm straight, but have 2 cousins who are gay. The female "came out" & no one was surprised. The male still denies it although it's obvious to everyone else in the family.

Most of my friends were all very supportive. A few were very shocked (supportive, but shocked) and the rest had been suspicious because I had never dated anyone the entire time they knew me. I think they were just happy that I wasn't asexual.

My family don't technically know, although my brother just saw me on this forum so I guess that's the cat out of the bag...
My friends were all very shocked, as apparently I act straight even by heterosexual standards...

My brother came out his first year in college. Everyone else seemed to know... but I was the only one surprised. The funny part is... I had told a girl in my class that he was gay a week before because she really liked him and I knew he couldn't stand her. We had fun in college, every time I went to visit him we'd check out guys together!
