We all know a UF student was tased after asking kerry questions after the forum was over. My question is do you think the officers should have tased him after he was already subdued?
I think this quote sums up my opinion on the matter:
"This guy was obviously an antagonist with a complete disrespect for an invited speaker. He got what he wanted out of the ordeal and should have left when asked -- what did he expect? I don't agree that the officers should have used a stun gun on this poor guy though. It looked like there were enough large officers to subdue this guy without the use of electric shock. He wasn't a threat to anyone, just loud and obnoxious! Bad decision."
There were many officers there and they had him subdued, it doesnt matter how loud he is. they should have dragged him out quickly and throw him in back of a squad car.
I think police abuse there powers and dont follow the law. I think more psychological testing for officers should be warranteed.

Also its important to point out, that Senator Kerry clearly said he will answer the question. So why did the police use incompetent judgement and arrest the kid. The police dont control the forum, kerry does. I guess thats why the two officers are on leave. good for them, and im glad these tape shows how many police abuse there powers on good citizens.

Scottanthony- I feel exactly the same way, to the people disagreeing, just imagine if it was you. So you mean if you ask a politician a tough question which is your right, you can get arrested? He really didnt aggresively resist arrest all he did was move his arms, i have yet to see a willing person get arrested without some discomfort. Does that mean we should shoot someone for passively resisting?
btw tasing people have led to many deaths.

If it was staged looks like cops fell right into the trap, shows how intelligent they are, if they havent tazed him the US would never have heard of it. mission accomplished on the guys part

This guy was testing Freedom of Speech
The test failed - even if he was only there to start things up
The police acted very quickly and will drum up charges of resisting
He resisted because he did nothing wrong but talking
They tazed him for moving his hands
If someone grabbed my hands to arrest me for no reason I would want to make it a point and show other American's how out of control todays cops are
What is gained in a police state if someone leaves willingly?
You mean, instead of asking the tough questions none of them want to answer!
There is a little bit of this guy in every true American just dying to get out!
So - if I plan an event for speaking out against Bush and this criminal administration and some Neocon retard comes in and starts talking - I can have my rent-a-cops taze him for 10 minutes and thats ok, great
where do I sign up to reach the most people

The kid was just being loud and obnoxious for attention. It was obvious that he was working himself up and wasting time, asking questions he knew he wouldn't get an answer to. The tazing was a bit much. I saw the tape and there were five or six guys who individually were bigger than the kid so a tazer gun was really inappropriate. Hopefully, the officers will see it and get psychological help.

Given the fact that an event was taking place, it was necessary for the police to restore order ASAP. Since Mr. Meyer did not comply, he got what he deserved. Had he willingly left the event, this never would have happened. I've seen the video many times, he was not complying, he was resisting and struggling. Granted the police could have taken him, but in my opinion they were more interested in coaxing Meyer to behave than to give him an opportunity to make more of a scene.

I'm no fan of John Kerry but the student got what he set out to accomplish. He could have stopped but he wanted to push the police to their limits and he got what he wanted.

He's a show boat that wants his 15 mins of fame. Should have just use a billy club and knocked him senseless. Odd how the student run event and it was fellow students that ask the campus cops to remove him isn't mentioned that often though. So not only was the show-boater's "rights" violated he infringed on those students rights to have an appropriate forum.

The police went overboard. They had five or more officers there to contain one person. Some officers are on a power trip and do abuse their authority.
That being said, this should be used as a lessons learned of how not to respond to an unruly person.
*** The officers should NOT be raked over the coals. ***

I think it is hysterically funny!
The kid was a pompous clown, and got what he deserved.
It is just the cop did not pull a Buzz Lightyear, and set her taser from "Stun" to "Kill"
